Maggi Dawn is an English author, theologian and musician. She specializes in bringing theology, music and the arts together in creative and practical ways. Liturgy, scripture, and theology are explored beyond the limits of words, breathing new life into long-held traditions as well as personal faith.

Her books, lectures, and presentations bring theological ideas into conversation with everyday life, and find connections between liturgy, songwriting, and the arts.

Starting as a writer and performer in the music business, Maggi went on to the University of Cambridge (UK) to study theology. She has since taught and researched at the Universities of Cambridge and Durham (UK), and Yale University, where she was also Dean of Marquand Chapel. She is a priest in the Episcopal Church and is currently serving as Diocesan Theologian in the Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island.

Rob Mathes is a renowned musician and has amassed a large body of arrangements and compositions around the subjects of faith and worship. He has some history with Courage+Faith when Maya Angelou and Mavis Staples performed with Rob arranging an entire set of music around these women and their artistry.

“In recent years, my life as a music producer and arranger became intense,” Rob remembers. “I started working with bands like Panic at the Disco and Train, and giants like Sting and Bruce Springsteen. I also finished up my long 13-year stint musically directing the Kennedy Center Honors. My work with those extraordinary artists was the most important work of my life. So much of it is melodic, warm, and deeply felt music.”

Christ Church Greenwich is located at  254 East Putnam Ave. in Greenwich.

About Courage + Faith

In a rapidly changing world, what new ways of worship and community might reignite a sense of spiritual relevance for those searching for meaning? How can we reflect God’s love in a culture that often seems disconnected from faith? How do we unite with compassion in an era marked by deep divisions and global unrest?

Courage & Faith is a dynamic speaker series designed to explore these questions, hosted by Rev. Justin Crisp from St. Barnabas and Rev. Marek Zabriskie from Christ Church Greenwich, and John Ford. Courage & Faith provide thought-provoking lectures, artistic performances, and immersive spiritual experiences to inspire, challenge, and equip individuals to live out their faith with courage and purpose in today’s complex world. Together, we hope to spark meaningful dialogue about what it looks like to follow Jesus with authenticity and boldness in our daily lives.
