Set Sail at the 58th Annual Model Sailboat Regatta at Binney Park, Oct 17, 2021

OGRCC is excited to announce that the popular annual Model Sailboat Regatta is back and will take place on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Binney Park.

This event will once again draw model sailboat enthusiasts of all ages from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Categories for homemade boats, motorized and remote-controlled boats are spread out throughout the afternoon. Event participation continues to grow, and this year, it is expected to be even bigger than ever.

“After a challenging few years, we are very excited to finally bring back a fantastic family event. This event brings together multiple generations, often with grandparents, parents, children, and grandchildren all collaborating on boat building and sailing. The pond is filled with both creative homemade boats made out of recycled materials and more intricate high-quality wooden model boats,” said Tom Casazzone, Executive Director at the OGRCC.

For years, families set up a picnic for the day, kids run around and enjoy Binney Park. Boats and spectators fill the park on this fun-filled day.

The event is one of the OGRCC’s primary efforts to raising money towards the Scholarship Program that supports over 70 families in the community each year. Generous donations each year help get more kids involved in our programs – everything from soccer to childcare to summer camps.
