Greenwich High School Theater Arts will present High School Musical on Dec. 13-16 at 4:30 and 7:30 in the Black Box Theater.
The “On Stage” Broadway Musical Workshop performance is a great family show and a nice way to introduce younger children to theater at the high school.
Started 24 years ago to allow more GHS students to experience the world of musical theater, the goal of On Stage is to create a nurturing environment for first time performers, while also challenging developing students with a keen interest in musical theater performance.
More experienced students serve as student leaders for the program. They create choreography, help lead warm-up exercises and work with other students to help them become ready for performance.
This year there are five class sections of On Stage. These classes rehearse independently until the week before the show. In that final week, the students come together to rehearse.

In order to give students the fullest performance experience, there are 8 different casts for this year’s production of High School Musical.
Students from all four grades are represented in principal roles.
There are 62 student performers involved in the show, 29 are first time performers on the GHS stage.
