Gallery owner Carole Sorokin has also invited local artists to donate one piece of art that will be arranged on the back wall of the gallery from May 1-May 31 for viewing and sale. Again, with all the proceeds going to a charitable organization locally as well as nationally.

The Harmonetiks Project, which helps Connecticut veterans manage stress, boost mental clarity and reduce pain and anxiety through Easy Breath classes, is partnering with End Veteran Debt and the Sorokin Gallery in  an “Operation Debt-Day” campaign. The goal is to raise $50,000, which will not only abolish $1,000,000 in veteran debt nationally, but also provide The Harmonetiks Project and End Veteran Debt with $30,000 to help meet immediate needs of local veterans.

“Operation Debt-Day ” was conceived and launched by Stratford resident Jerry Ashton, a Navy veteran and military journalist, a proven force at fundraising. In 2014 he co-founded RIP Medical Debt, which over the past 10 years has abolished $45B (yes, Billion) in medical debt for over 10 million Americans.

Mr. Ashton intends to have the same positive effect for veterans but this time to include all forms of crushing debt, not just medical.
