Dear Neighbor,
You may know my dad, Mike Mason, from his many years serving Greenwich, his work negotiating on behalf of our town, or now as a candidate for State Representative. But to me, he’s just Dad.
I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in Greenwich. It’s a special place, and so much of what I love about it comes from the childhood my parents gave me and the community I grew up in.
My dad has always been my biggest supporter. Whether it was cheering me on at
softball games or sitting through every single performance of The Music Man at
Eastern Middle School, despite my having a very small role, he was always there. It
didn’t matter how big or small the occasion was. If it mattered to me, it mattered to him.
He also taught me the importance of hard work, keeping your word, and showing up for the people who count on you. He gave me a love of travel, encouraged me to explore the world, and taught me to appreciate different places, people, and perspectives.

But no matter where I’ve traveled, Greenwich has always been the place that feels like home.
And like so many young people who grew up here, I would love to build my future in the same town that gave me such a wonderful childhood. The reality, though, is that Greenwich and Connecticut have become increasingly expensive places to live. For young adults hoping to return after college, buy a home, and start a family, that dream can feel out of reach.
My dad understands that. He also understands that affordability isn’t just an issue for my generation. It’s an issue for longtime residents and retirees who have spent their lives building this community and deserve to be able to stay here.

I’ve heard him talk about these challenges for years, long before he decided to run for State Representative. He cares deeply about preserving what makes Greenwich special while making sure it remains a place where people of all generations can build their lives.
That’s what makes me so proud of him. He doesn’t just love Greenwich for what it has been. He cares about what it will be for the next generation.
I’ve watched my dad dedicate so much of his life to this town. I know how hard he works, how much he cares, and how seriously he takes the responsibility of representing others.
To me, he’s the dad who never missed a softball game or a school play. To Greenwich, he’s someone who has spent decades showing up, listening, and working to make our town better.
I know he’ll bring that same dedication to Hartford, and I hope you’ll join me in supporting him on November 3rd.
Warmly,
Julia Mason
