On Saturday, October 10, Greenwich resident, Quentin Ball, completed her 10th New York City Triathlon, securing first place in her age group for the first time.
The event included swimming .9 miles in the Hudson River, biking 12.4 miles on the Henry Hudson Parkway, and running 2.5 miles in Central Park.
Ms Ball is the Executive Director of I Challenge Myself, a NYC-based nonprofit that uses cycling and after-school programs to improve the lives of underserved students.

Ms Ball was motivated by the students in the programs, saying “I see how our students set goals for themselves and have such elevated confidence and pride when they reach those goals. They motivated me to set this goal and I’m glad they did.”
Ms Ball’s accomplishment caught the attention of I Challenge Myself board member, Aya DeSimone, who donated $2,500 to the organization in honor of the triathlon feat.
“I see how the students in the I Challenge Myself programs persevere, sometimes in the face of adversity,” DeSimone said, adding, “And they find the strength to keep going. Quentin embodies that.”
Ball said I Challenge Myself Ms DiSimone’s donation will support programs that provide physical activity, arts, coding, robotics, and other content areas to youth in Washington Heights, Harlem, and The Bronx, both during the school day and after school.
