Children at the Temple Sholom Selma Maisel Nursery School gathered in the Sanctuary on September 4 to participate in a beloved annual tradition — a shofar-sounding demonstration by local shofar blower Stu Seltzer in advance of Rosh Hashanah.

For the past 11 years, Seltzer has visited the nursery school to share the significance of the shofar and its role in welcoming the Jewish New Year. He was joined this year by the school’s new Director of Early Childhood, Susie Weiner, who led the group in a spirited holiday sing-along.
After learning about the different sounds of the shofar, the children and teachers each had an opportunity to try their hand at sounding the shofar themselves, bringing the joy of Rosh Hashanah to life in a memorable and hands-on way.
