Greenwich Historical Society is pleased to announce the launch of Thursdays at Toby’s Tavern, a new evening series inviting the community to gather twice each month for lectures, concerts, exhibitions, and after-hours access to the Society’s historic campus.
Designed as a welcoming cultural gathering place, Thursdays at Toby’s Tavern will take place two Thursday evenings each month. During each program, Greenwich Historical Society’s campus will remain open late, allowing visitors to enjoy concerts, lectures, and exhibitions.
Programs will feature a rotating schedule of concerts, lectures, and special events
exploring history, arts, culture, preservation, and community while creating new
opportunities for residents and visitors to gather, learn, and connect.

The series begins on Thursday, June 11, with a Summer Concert on the Great Lawn featuring the Florian Shantz Jazz Combo.
Inspired by the spirit of the Jazz Age, the performance celebrates the lively sounds of the 1920s and 1930s while highlighting jazz as one of America’s most influential musical traditions. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets for an evening of music, dancing, and community on the beautiful grounds of Greenwich Historical Society.
The series continues on Thursday, June 18, with Paris, Capital of Fashion, a lecture by Valerie Steele, Director and Chief Curator of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology and one of the world’s leading fashion historians. Steele will explore why Paris has long been regarded as the fashion capital of the world and how its distinctive blend of art, luxury, culture, and identity continues to shape the global fashion industry.
