GHS Holiday Band Concert, “A Winter Celebration” Set for Dec 18

Greenwich High School’s annual Holiday Band Concert is set for Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 7:30 pm in the GHS Performing Arts Center. Director of Bands is Amy Bovin. Associate Director of Bands is Jason Polise.

This year’s concert is A Winter Celebration!

The (34 member) Percussion Ensemble will start off the concert debuting the Bucket Band, showing everyone that music is everywhere!

The Ensemble will then play a very unique arrangement of The 12 Days of Christmas which features a different style of music for each “night.”

The Jazz Lab Band will play holiday favorites Frosty the Snowman and All I Want for Christmas is You.

Next the Jazz Ensemble will be playing some fun dance tunes, Dat Dere, a laid-back
song that one could hear at a party and Sing Sang Sung which is a take on
Sing Sing Sing. In addition, they will perform the highly popular Sleigh Ride.
When the Concert Band takes the stage, they will play a medley of Chanukah songs
followed by an arrangement of the Spanish Carol Fum, Fum, Fum. Their set will be filled with excitement because seven new members who will perform only started playing their instruments at the beginning of this year.

Symphony Band will play Celtic Carol which features the tune Greensleeves in addition they will perform Feliz Navidad using the majority of our percussionists!
Wind Ensemble will play a Fanfare of Christmas tunes followed by an arrangement of the Irish hymn Be Thou My Vision.

They end their performance with Bugler’s Holiday featuring a cornet trio.

AND…for a very exciting finale…together as one big GHS band family all 187 students in the band program will conclude the evening with a performance of Tran-Siberian Orchestra’s famous piece “Christmas Eve/Saravejo 12/24”
