Cops: Driver Mounts Curb on Delavan Ave, Charged with Operating Under the Influence

police stationOn Saturday, Sept. 27, Greenwich Police arrested Matthew Telez, 21, of 75 Marlin Drive in Norwalk for Operating Under the Influence and  Failure to Drive in the Proper Lane.

On Saturday just after 4:00pm Greenwich Police on patrol observed a vehicle traveling east on Delavan Ave and weaving within the sole eastbound lane of travel. According to police, the vehicle was later observed to mount the southern most curb on Delavan Ave directly in front of the Byram Firehouse.

Through further investigation, Greenwich police determined that the operator, Matthew Tellez, of 75 Marlin Drive of Norwalk, displayed glassy eyes and the odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Tellez was asked to submit to a series of standardized field sobriety tests, which he subsequently failed.

Tellez was placed under arrest and charged with Operating Under the Influence and Failure to Maintain Lane. He was issued a court date of Oct. 14 in Stamford at 9:00am and was released after posting bond of $250.00.
