Greenwich Hit and Run Driver Did Not Possess Driver’s License

Greenwich Police responded to an address on South Water Street in Byram Saturday night on a report that a crash had just occurred in the vicinity.

According to witnesses, a vehicle had struck their parked car and driven away southbound on South Water Street before making a left turn onto Division Street West.

The evading vehicle was described as a black Chrysler 300 with damage to the front right bumper and fender.

When police found the car it was unoccupied on Oak Street West, where the owner lived. She was located within her residence and she identified Jose Chica-Ochoa, 41, of Greenwich, as the driver of the vehicle.

Mr. Chica-Ochoa was showing signs of alcohol impairment and was unable to perform field sobriety tests to standard.

After being placed under arrest, it was determined that he did not possess a driver’s license.

He was charged with Evading Responsibility, DUI, Failure to Drive in Proper Lane, and Driving without a License.

He was able to post the required 7% minimum ($35.00) of his $500 bond, and was assigned a date in Stamford Superior Court on May 3, 2024.
