Dare to Go Red? Now’s the time at the newly opened Becker Salon on Greenwich Avenue. For everyone who becomes a redhead at the salon or receives red highlights or red hair extensions from now through Saturday, February 28, Becker Salon will donate $50 to the American Heart Association. A $10 donation will be made for everyone who wears red at the salon during this time.

“Red hair is a definitely a trend now and popular among celebrities and on the runways,” said Becker Chicaiza, salon founder. “There are many beautiful shades of red from strawberry blonde to auburn.”

February is American Heart Month and the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign strives to raise awareness about the disease.

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year.

The salon wants to help support the cause and will also distribute information about the campaign to clients. The creative team of color specialists and stylists will wear red to show their commitment.

Becker Salon recently opened in a new space at 380 Greenwich Avenue on the second floor. The salon is open Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. To make an appointment to “Go Red,” call 203-340-9550.
