Greenwich Schools Superintendent Appoints Director of Educational Technology

HAVEMEYERBUILDINGGreenwich Schools Superintendent of Schools Bill McKersie announced the appointment of Mr. Michael Ting as the Director of Educational Technology, effective December 14, 2015.

The announcement was made Wednesday morning in a statement distributed by Kim Eves, the district’s head of communication.

With fifteen years of Information Technology (IT) and management experience, Mr. Ting joins the district after most recently leading a team at Encompass Digital Media in Stamford a mid-size IT consulting firm with clients throughout the Northeastern corridor.

According to Chief Information Officer Phil Dunn, “Michael Ting possesses technical expertise across all domains of technology, paired with an ability to communicate complex subject matter clearly. This rare combination of skills is needed to sustain and grow the District’s vision of the Digital Learning Environment (DLE).”

Administrative candidates are selected after a comprehensive search and appointment process, which includes widespread recruitment efforts, multiple interviews, and extensive reference and background checks.

Michael Ting has worked in the Information Technology (IT) services field since 2000, where he began his career at First Virtual Communication in Redwood City, CA. Since moving to the Northeast, he has worked for firms managing IT systems and staff, including Tournament One Corporation in Stamford, CT (2007-2008), Arkadium in New York, NY as Director of IT (2008-2013), and as Project Engineering Team Lead for The TNS Group in Stamford (2013-2015). As Director of Service Delivery for LANStatus in Trumbull, Mr. Ting managed a senior level engineering team for this IT consulting firm. Since September this year, he has managed corporate IT infrastructures for television broadcasting networks as Senior IT Systems Engineer for Encompass Digital Media in Stamford.

Mr. Ting received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Charter Oak State College in New Britain. He also holds a Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA) Certification.
