Greenwich Middle School Assistant Principal Moves to Central Office Administration

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jill Gildea has announced the appointment of Ms. Shamain Johnson as the Assistant Director of Certified Staff in the Human Resources Department of the Greenwich Public Schools, effective, July 1, 2018.

With the Greenwich Public Schools since 2014 as Assistant Principal at Central Middle School, Ms. Johnson said, “I look forward to this new endeavor and opportunity to serve Greenwich Public Schools in a greater capacity. Central Middle School will always have a special place in my heart. It has been a pleasure to work with amazing students and a talented group of professionals committed to helping children reach new heights.”

In addition to her general responsibilities as an assistant principal, Ms. Johnson has made a notable impact in coordinating professional development in support of Response to Intervention practices; facilitating shifts in the instructional model for delivering special education services, and in her use of evidenced-based decision making to support school improvement planning.

“Shamain’s professionalism and ability to connect with all members of a school community are directly responsible for the gains we have made in transforming the teaching and learning at CMS,” said CMS principal Tom Healy. “While I will miss her presence and expertise on my school based leadership team, the Greenwich Public Schools will benefit having her as the new Assistant Director of Certified Staff for the Human Resources department.”
