The Greenwich High School Athletic Hall of Fame is proud to announce the return of its induction celebration this fall, honoring a new class of outstanding athletes, coaches, and contributors whose accomplishments have helped shape the rich tradition of Greenwich High School athletics.
The 2026 Hall of Fame Class will be inducted on Friday, October 23 as part of a special evening bringing together inductees, families, alumni, current student-athletes, coaches, and members of the Greenwich community to celebrate the legacy of Cardinal athletics – past, present, and future.
The 2026 Greenwich High School Athletic Hall of Fame Class will honor seven individuals whose achievements and contributions span generations of Cardinal athletics:
• Mike Brown ‘76, a three-sport athlete in soccer, basketball, and baseball
• Joe Cabrera ‘77, recognized for his on-field accomplishments in football and track and field;
• Charles Dattola, longtime Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics
• Peter McDevitt, coach of boys soccer, boys swimming, and boys track and field
• Carolyn Pagnano, coach of field hockey and girls basketball
• Dave Rice, longtime football and boys basketball coach
• Douglas Springer ‘64, a standout athlete in boys swimming.
Dattola and McDevitt will be honored posthumously. Together, the 2026 class represents the athletic excellence, leadership, commitment, and Cardinal pride that have defined Greenwich High School athletics for generations.
The celebration will take place on Friday, October 23, 2026, beginning with a pregame Hall of Fame Social, where inductees, families, former teammates and coaches, alumni, and members of the Greenwich community can reconnect and celebrate in the Greenwich High School Performing Arts Center Galleria at 5:30pm.
Admission is free for the Hall of Fame Social.
The evening will continue at Cardinal Stadium, where the 2026 inductees will be formally recognized during a special halftime induction ceremony at the Greenwich High School football game when the Cardinals take on rival New Canaan High School with a 7:00pm kickoff.
The Hall of Fame’s return, after a brief three-year hiatus, is also an opportunity to connect Greenwich athletics history with today’s Cardinals.
Current student-athletes and coaches will take part in the celebration, helping recognize those who came before them and the legacy they created.
