At GHS Unified Sports Soccer Game Delivers Energy and Excitement

Greenwich High School hosted a vibrant Unified Sports soccer matchup this week, filling the gym with energy, cheers, and nonstop excitement. From the opening kickoff, players on both sides showed teamwork and enthusiasm, creating an atmosphere that was as uplifting as it was competitive.

The game featured plenty of goals, each one met with roaring applause and celebrations from teammates and fans. “My favorite part about the day was watching everyone contribute to the team, everyone got to score a goal, every athlete and all the parents contributed, and it was overall a very inclusive environment.” said the team captain, Ramses, reflecting on the team’s spirit and the supportive environment on the field.

Students across all grade levels took part, sharing laughs between plays and lifting each other up during every moment of the match. Emmet, a student on the team, has the important job of breaking the huddle before and after every game. With the teams chant, “Unified on three!” This sets the tone on just how much joy the game brings to everyone involved.

Coaches and spectators echoed this sentiment, praising both teams for their positivity and sportsmanship.

Chimi, a student on the team, talked about how meaningful Unified Sports is to the school community, summing up the experience by saying, “They’re (GHS Unified Sports Team) always amazing, and they’re always kind and supportive and persevered.”

By the end of the event, the gym was still buzzing with excitement, smiles, and the sense of camaraderie that makes Unified Sports such a beloved part of life at Greenwich High School.
