At GHS, 23 Athletes Honored in the School’s First Signing Day Ceremony

On Wednesday morning 23 student-athletes were honored at Greenwich High School’s first Signing Day ceremony.

Peter Georgiou, the interim Athletic Director, said the ceremony was the biggest in his time at GHS.

Mayo, who was previously principal at Eastern Middle School, said he’d known many of the students since they were in sixth grade.

“It’s amazing to see the amount of growth and maturity,” Mayo said. “They’re going to be fine when they go off to college. They are ready – probably right now.”

Parents laughed knowingly when Mr. Mayo thanked them for the years they spent driving their children to sports activities.

“I know much work you had to put into driving around the state of Connecticut, and more, to make sure this could happen for your children. This is a combined effort between students, parents and the athletic program here at Greenwich High School.”
