13 GHS Student-Athletes Sign Letters of Intent to Play Sports in College

At the first Greenwich High School signing ceremony of the year 13 student athletes were congratulated by principal Ralph Mayo and Athletic Director Peter Georgiou.

“Most people outside of this room don’t understand how much work goes into getting these wonderful, beautiful athletes from A to Z,” Mr. Mayo said to the group of gathered families. “Here they are right now signing these pieces of paper, often getting a full scholarship to these wonderful universities.”

“It’s a lot of work. It’s a lot of time on everyone’s parts, and it will be a lot of work when you get there – it’s going to be like a job. It’s not going to be like here, where you get a season off,” he added. “You’re going to have to do an even better job than now – between getting your work done and getting your practice in. But they can do it! They’re fabulous!”

Mr. Mayo thanked the families and athletic department staff for their support and hard work.

The student-athletes participated in the National Letter of Intent Signing Day  ceremony indicating their intent to continue their athletic careers in college next fall:
