The Wearing of the Green-wich Thank you Parade Set for Sept 19

The Greenwich Police Emerald Society and Combined Organization of Police are hosting a “Wearing of the Green-wich Thank You Parade and Tattoo on Sept 19 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Greenwich Avenue.

The family friendly parade will step off from Greenwich Town Hall at 1:00pm.

Police Motorcycles and Police Helicopters will fly overhead and lead the parade from Town Hall along Field Point Road to lower Greenwich Ave and Havemeyer Field.

The parade celebrates the 125th anniversary of the Greenwich Police Dept and honors Greenwich Hospital staff, first responders, essential workers and supermarket employees who worked through the pandemic.

The parade will be led by 100 police motorcycles, a team of horses, bagpipe bands from around the country.

The parade has an emerald theme and will culminate with bagpipe bands showing off their skills and performing in a mass band, in addition to other Celtic themed performances.

At Havemeyer Field, the bands will play individually and the show will culminate in one mass band performance.

Ten Bagpipe bands from across the area are scheduled to perform.

Organizers say the event is expected to be one of the largest parade/celebrations in the history of The Town of Greenwich.
