Rachel Khanna Endorsed by Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association

Rachel Khanna, candidate for State Representative -149th District, on Monday announced she has earned the endorsement of the Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association (SPFFA), representing 250 full-time fire fighters that protect Stamford families, homes, and businesses every day.

“As full-time fire fighters and public servants, we rely heavily on the support of elected officials in order to do our job efficiently and safely. It is easy to say that you support fire fighters but what does that really mean?” said Paul Anderson, President of the SPFFA in a release. “It means taking care of those suffering from occupational cancer, the greatest threat to the lives of fire fighters. It means protecting the collective bargaining rights of fire fighters so that they may negotiate safety and staffing standards, ultimately leading to better service. It means fully funding regional fire schools so that communities can affordably train their fire fighters. These are the commitments Rachel Khanna has made to Stamford Professional Fire Fighters and we are proud to endorse her candidacy for the 149th district of Connecticut.”

“It is incumbent upon us to have the backs of those who have our backs,” said Khanna in the release. “Fire fighters in Stamford and Greenwich put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe and protect our property. Their jobs are done at tremendous risk to themselves and are difficult enough without the constant worry of whether or not they can receive the care they need if they become ill as a result of doing their jobs. And we must ensure that all of our first responders have the funding they need to do their jobs—funding for training, equipment, and personnel needed to keep our communities safe.”

According to the release, Kimberly Fiorello has repeatedly voted against first responders by
voting:
● No on $55,000 funding for the Stamford Fire School;
● No on $500,000 funding for the Round Hill Fire House
● No on $100,000 funding for body cameras for the Greenwich Police Department;
● No on $4 million to invest in forensic science technology to speed up criminal case investigations;
● No on $6 million for CT State Police training.
