Greenwich Police arrested an Illinois man on June 15 after observing behavior consistent with criminal activity on Greenwich Avenue. Around 5:00pm on that day patrol officers and plain clothes officers working in the area detained and positively identified Anwar S. Randle, 47, and a con-conspirator.
Investigation revealed that Mr. Randle conspired to “use fraudulent instruments,” which is to knowingly present, distribute, or attempt to use a fake, altered, or counterfeit document as if it were genuine.
Police also said Randle conspired to successfully use the personal identifying information of another in hopes of benefiting financially in corroboration with the forged instrument while at a business on Greenwich Avenue.
Upon a search incident to Mr. Randle’s arrest he was found to have a controlled substance on his person.
Police said Randle had an extensive criminal history including various felonies.
He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st offense, Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 4, five counts of Conspiracy to Commit/Identify Theft 3rd degree (class D felony), five counts of Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Impersonation, and five counts of Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 2 (class D felony).
According to the Judicial branch website, Mr. Randle was released from custody on a $100,000 bond is due back at Stamford Superior Court on August 6, 2026.
