Police Continue to Search for Clues in 1987 Homicide of Greenwich Mother of Three

Greenwich Police cold case investigators continue to search for clues in the 1987 homicide of Mary Capozza.

Capozza was a 40 year-old Greenwich resident and mother of three.

She was last seen 32 years ago at about 6:00pm on October 30, 1987 and was reported missing the following morning by a family member.

An extensive police search began that involved a helicopter, boat and tracking dog was undertaken.

At the time of her disappearance Mrs. Capozza was in the process of a divorce, but was not known to be despondent. Mary’s family and friends said at the time that it was also highly uncharacteristic of her to leave her family without telling anyone where she was going.

On November 24, 1987, almost a month after Capozza went missing, her body was found in the water of a North Castle NY reservoir. The Westchester County Medical Examiner later ruled her death a homicide.

Greenwich Police are asking anyone with any information on Mary Capozza’s disappearance or death to call the tip line at (203) 622-3333, or (800) 372-1176. Information can also be emailed to: [email protected].
