Greenwich Police have arrested a suspect in the September incident at Tom’s Driving School in Old Greenwich.
Back on Sept 7, an employee of the driving school reported someone had forced entry to the business and rummaged through desks and drawers.
Since that date, Greenwich Police conducted an investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for Jose Vargas, 41, of Flower Street in Manchester, CT.
“There was an enormous amount of follow up on this case,” Lt Slusarz said on Monday, adding that on Sunday Greenwich Police went to Groton to pick up Mr. Vargas.
“Police in Groton contacted us and said they made contact with him and that learned we had a warrant for him,” Slusarz continued.
Lt Slusarz said it was unclear whether Vargas was the person of interest caught on surveillance video at McDonald’s and Pet Pantry following the break-in the break in at Tom’s across the street.
Vargas was charged with two counts of Burglary 3, Criminal Trespass 2, and Criminal Mischief 2.
His bond was set at $200,000 which he was unable to post. He has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Dec 26, 2018.
