Just over the line in New York, officials are warning that their police department are aware of an unlawful parking notice that was circulated overnight by people unaffiliated with the Village of Port Chester.
Officials say the notices, which are in English and Spanish, are false, and the information detailed on them is not to be taken as fact.
“Although the village is working on deploying a resident parking permit for some streets, a blanket notice such as this is not an appropriate manner of communication, nor one it would use,” the announcement said. “The village does not place notices or advertisements on vehicles.”
The notices falsely claim that a new parking policy will result in fines starting at $100 to owners of vehicles parked on certain streets without registering for a residential parking program, and repeat offenses would result in additional fines and ultimately vehicles would be impounded.
Port Chester police are currently investigating the matter to determine the origin of the notice and who is responsible.
Residents who live in an area where cars were littered with these notices are encouraged to contact Port Chester Police Dept with any information, photos or video footage from home camera systems that may help identify the perpetrators.

Port Chester, NY officials said the above about notice is fake. The notice falsely claims that a new parking policy will result in fines to owners of vehicles parked on certain streets without registering for a residential parking program.
