Multiple Charges for Greenwich Man Who Crashed into Stone Wall

Jorge A Cardenas-Rey, 29, of Wilbur Peck Court was arrested on Dec. 13 after turning himself in to Greenwich Police for charges stemming back to an incident on Old Field Point Rd on November 6.

According to Greenwich Police, an investigation was launched after an accident on Nov 6 around 8:00 pm involving a red Honda Accord that crashed into a stone wall on 71 Old Field Point Road.

Police say the driver, Mr. Cardenas-Rey, appeared intoxicated and was physically unable to perform standardized field sobriety tests due to his “visibly intoxicated state.”

Officers additionally detected the smell of alcoholic beverages on his breath and person.

Cardenas-Rey was transported to Greenwich Hospital, and after further investigation, it was determined that he had a blood alcohol concentration elevated above the legal limit.

Police also determined that Mr. Cardenas-Rey was driving with a suspended license and initially lied to police officers the night of the collision.

Cardenas-Rey voluntarily turned himself in to Greenwich Police when he learned of the warrant.

He was charged with DUI, Evading, Failure to Drive Right, Driving with a Suspended License and Interfering with an Officer.

His bond was set at $10,000, which he was able to post. He was assigned a court date on Dec. 23, 2016.
