Motor Vehicle Stop Results in Passenger’s Arrest for Pot Possession

While conducting routine patrol on Hamilton Avenue around 12:45am on April 1, Greenwich Police Officers stopped a Hyundai Elantra for crossing the double yellow line.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers immediately detected the odor associated with burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

The vehicle’s operator stated to officers that there was in fact marijuana within the vehicle. The marijuana was located within possession of the front seat passenger, Jonathan Pool, 20, of 18 Hazel St in Stamford. Mr. Pool was placed under arrest for Illegal Possession of Marijuana.  Pool was able to post his $250 and was subsequently released. He was assigned the next available court date of April 8, 2016.

The driver was issued a verbal warning for Failure to Drive Right.
