Triple Trouble for Alleged Drunk Driver Who Ran Red Light

On Monday, July 8 around 1:30am Greenwich Police spotted a car traveling west on Mill Street in Byram as it ran a red light at the intersection of Mead Ave.

A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the operator was identified as Alexander Lucero.

Police detected the odor of alcoholic beverages from the driver who then was unable to pass field sobriety tests.

Lucero was charged with DUI, Failure to Obey Traffic Signal, Driving without a License, Driving an Unregistered Car, Driving without Insurance and Misuse of Plates.

But Lucero’s troubles were not over. After he was issued a court date on July 22, 2019 in Stamford Superior Court, police FBI Fingerprint index sent a “hit confirmation” stipulating that Lucero’s fingerprints belonged to that of an “Alexis Ortega.” Officers confronted the man who admitted he had lied about his name.

H was additionally charged with Forgery 2 and Interfering with an Officer.

After learning of Ortega’s true identity police learned he was the subject of two outstanding arrest warrants for Failure to Appear 2. Each warrant had a court assigned bond from Milford Superior Court of $5,000. Because Ortega was unable to post his bond for his original arrest, officers assigned a court date of July 19, 2019 in Milford Superior Court.
