In Greenwich the Greenwich Police are organizing a drug take back day on Saturday, October 24 in the public safety complex at 11 Bruce Place. There will be a table in the lobby from 10:00am to 2:00pm for collection.
Masks are required for entry into the building. Residents are encouraged to bring their unused or unwanted prescription or over-the-counter medicines (including pet medicines) for proper disposal. Residents do not need to complete forms or answer questions regarding the medicines they are dropping off and there is no cost.
Proper disposal of medicines through the drug take-back program allow you to protect your identity, prevent illicit or accidental consumption of medicines, and help protect our water and environment. For those unable to attend this event, the Greenwich Police Department has a locked drug collection box in the Public Safety Complex lobby for residents to drop off unused or unwanted medicines 24/7.
Last Saturday, members of Greenwich Together (formerly Greenwich Prevention Council) set up a table outside the Greenwich Farmer’s Market in Horseneck Lot and handed out our hand sanitizers with information on prescription drug misuse.
The Change the Script Van, part of the statewide Opioid Misuse Prevention Campaign, was also on scene handing out resources and information.
