Greenwich Police ORCA Unit & Bike Unit Coordinated Effort Results in Arrests of Trio of Bank Fraud Suspects

Greenwich Police announced a successful Intervention by their Organized Retail Crime Activity (ORCA) Unit.

The arrest took place back on Jan 7, 2025. According to a post on the GPD Facebook page on Friday, Feb 7 members of the Greenwich Police Department’s ORCA Unit, had observed suspicious activity involving a potential fraud suspect in the vicinity of a bank.

“As they monitored the situation, they witnessed the suspect attempting fraudulent transactions,” police said. “Recognizing the urgency, the ORCA Unit coordinated with the Bike Unit, combining resources to ensure a swift response. Bike Officers with their quick response were able to conduct an investigative motor vehicle stop of the vehicle involved in the incident.”

Three suspects was apprehended and subsequently arrested without incident.

Morace Currie (DOB 12/13/1993) was charged with:
•53a-48/53a-124 Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3rd
•53a-48/53a-140 Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3rd
•53a-48/53a-129c Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft- 2nd Degree

Mr. Currie’s bond was set at $200,000 according the CT judicial branch website. A professional surety bond services posted his bond and he was released. His next court date is April 15, 2025.

Daison Michael Mitchell (08/06/1990) was charged with:
•53a-48/53a-124 Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3rd
•53a-48/53a-140 Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3rd
•53a-48/53a-129c Conspiracy to Commit Identity theft- 2nd Degree

According to the CT Judicial branch website, Mr. Mitchell’s bond was $15,000 of which he posted the required 7% and he was released from custody.

Tariq Lance Washington (05/30/1994) was charged with:
• 53a-48/53a-124 Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 3rd Degree
•53a-49/53a-124 Criminal Attempt at Larceny 3rd Degree
•53a-140 Forgery 3rd Degree
•53a-140 Conspiracy to Commit Forgery 3rd Degree
•53a-129c Identity Theft – 2nd Degree
•53a-129c Conspiracy to Commit Identity Theft – 2nd Degree

According to the Judicial Branch website, Mr. Washington’s bond was $25,000 which he did not post and was held in custody. His next court date is March 13, 2025.
