Press release from Greenwich Police:
The Greenwich Police Department is proud to formally introduce our Crime Data Portal to the community as part of our continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and public trust.
This resource has been developed to provide residents with clear, accessible insight into reported incidents, public safety trends, and law enforcement activity throughout Greenwich. By making this information available, we aim to keep our community informed, promote awareness, and strengthen our shared responsibility for public safety.
The Crime Data Portal offers timely access to information about police activity across our town. Residents are encouraged to explore the portal to better understand what is happening in their neighborhoods. The data is updated daily, with new information available beginning at approximately 7:00 AM, reflecting activity from the previous day.
For traffic-related information, including collision reports, residents may refer to the Connecticut Transportation Safety Research Center.
As we introduce this tool, we want to ensure the community understands the following important considerations:
Privacy and Investigative Integrity:
Certain details, including precise incident addresses and select call information, may be withheld or generalized to safeguard active investigations and protect victim privacy in accordance with state and federal law. Geographic markers may be adjusted to preserve confidentiality.
Data Currency:
The portal updates daily, starting at approximately 7 AM, and reflects information from the previous day, ensuring quality control while maintaining timeliness.
Preliminary Nature of Data:
Because this information is published shortly after incidents occur, it has not been fully verified. Details may evolve as investigations progress and additional facts are confirmed. We encourage you to use this resource as a reference tool, recognizing that the data may be subject to revision.
This portal represents our ongoing commitment to openness and community engagement. The information provided is for general awareness and may not include every incident, arrest, or record maintained by the Greenwich Police Department. Data is drawn directly from our operational systems and reflects preliminary reporting that has not been comprehensively reviewed. Accordingly, individual entries are subject to modification as cases develop.
We are committed to continuing to build trust through transparency and encourage all residents to make use of this resource.
