Sailing Club Prepares for its 36th Year of Bringing Skippers and Crew Together

As the 2026 boating season begins, Singles Under Sail, a club for sailors who are single, will begin their 36th year of bringing together crew and skippers for enjoyable times on and off the water.

Greenwich resident and skipper, Gary Silberberg, who has been a member for more than 25 years, said this club has made a great difference in his boating enjoyment.

“It’s always nice to sail in company and with friendly crew, and this club helps make that a reality. We have day sails, twilight sails and weekend sailaways on Long Island Sound as well as trips to ports near and far, including New York Harbor, Martha’s Vineyard and Maine. Besides on-water events, we also have program meetings and social get-togethers.”

“The Club also provides a way for skippers to find helping hands, and for crew to find a way to get out on the water, enjoy the sport of sailing and enhance their boating skills. Most of our skippers like to cruise. Some skippers like to race and this club helps them find crew.”

This year, Singles Under Sail will host its annual “Meet the Skippers” get-together on Saturday, April 11 from 2:00-5:00pm at the US Coast Guard Auxiliary at Calf Pasture Beach, Norwalk, CT The event is free and includes light refreshments. The Club welcomes new members and prospects to come and check it out. Meet the club’s skippers, see photos of their boats, find out about their home ports, and and see the calendar of exciting events planned for this year.
