Greenwich Man Killed in I95 Crash in Stamford Monday Morning

On Monday morning a single car crash on I95 in Stamford resulted in the death of a Greenwich man.

A Honda Accord veered off the highway’s northbound side (between exits 6 and 7) into a grassy shoulder, and then struck the Wilson Street bridge. The car was found flipped over behind a guardrail.

Several other occupants of the vehicle were injured. The crash took place around 4:00am.

Michael Vincente Chavez, 28, of of North Smith Street in Greenwich, who was a passenger in the back of the vehicle, was declared dead on the scene.

The operator and another passenger have potentially serious injuries. According to WFSB, seriously injured were driver John Chavez, 35, of Stamford and another passenger, 31-year-old Max Dacilio of Stamford. John Chavez and Dacilio were conscious and alert when emergency crews arrived.

The crash remains under investigation.
