Elderly Targeted Again in Greenwich with Grandma Scam

An elderly woman was targeted by phone scammers who persuaded the Greenwich woman to send $3,000 to free her grandson who the caller said was being held by police and needed bail money.

According to Lt. Kraig Gray of Greenwich Police Dept, this incident was but one more in the string of ongoing grandparent scams.

“She’ll never get the money back,” Gray said of the scam which was reported on Sept. 9. “The police will never ask for money to be wired in this country.”
