DUI for Greenwich Driver Lacking Driver’s License and Required Ignition Interlock Device

On Saturday around 11:15pm Greenwich Police spotted a vehicle traveling eastbound on Delavan Ave at a high rate of speed for the wet roadway conditions. Police say the vehicle then disregarded the traffic control signal at the intersection with Mead Ave and continued through a solid red light.

While following the vehicle officers spotted it weaving and crossing over the double yellow center line. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and upon investigation officers determined that the accused was driving while holding his electronic communication device and that he did not possess a driver’s license.

The accused Ruben Samayoa-Aguilar, 38, of Greenwich was showing signs of impairment from alcohol and was requested to submit to field sobriety tests which he did not perform to standard.

While transporting Mr. Samayoa-Aguilar dispatch discovered that the suspect was required to have an ignition interlock device (IID), but one had not been installed in his vehicle, and that he had an ID card only out of New York from three previous DUI arrests.

He was arrested and charged with Traveling Too Fast for Conditions, DUI, Illegal Operation Motor Vehicle without Ignition Device, Failure to Drive in Proper Lane, Driving while Using Hand Held Device, Traffic Control Signals, and Driving without a License.

He was released after posting a $300 cash bond and has a date in Stamford Superior Court on March 15, 2024.
