English Westminster Music Director to Conduct Choirs on March 9 at Christ Church

James O’Donnell, LVO, KCSG, the Visiting Artist-in-Residence at Christ Church Greenwich, is conducting a very special Saturday Evensong on Saturday, March 9, 5:00 pm, with the Choir of Men & Boys and the St Cecilia Choir of Girls. Music by Vaughan Williams, Radcliffe, Dyson, and Britten.

It is a wonderful honor for Christ Church to have the former Master of the Choristers at Westminster Abbey conducting the choirs, especially ahead of their trip to Westminster Abbey this summer, 2024.

Professor Dr. O’Donnell has enjoyed a most illustrious 23 year career as the Organist and Master of the Choristers at Westminster Abbey and last year, led the music at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.  He also led the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in 2011, the service of thanksgiving for the life of Prince Philip in 2021, and many Royal celebrations.

He was made a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO) by King Charles III in the British New Year’s Honors list. Established by Queen Victoria in 1896, the award recognizes distinguished personal service to the British sovereign and their family.

Mr. O’Donnell resides in Connecticut in his new role as Professor in the Practice of Organ at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music (ISM).
