DUI for Driver Who Sped Wrong-Way through Greenwich Plaza

In the early morning hours of Saturday, Nov 25, Greenwich Police spotted a car speed through the intersection of Greenwich Avenue and Bruce Park Ave.

It was around 4:00am when the car, a 2024 Mercedes Benz GLE Coupe, then turned west into Greenwich Plaza, in the wrong direction of the posted one-way sign.

Police say the Mercedes sped through Greenwich Plaza going the wrong direction then turned north onto Arch Street and then turned north onto Sound View Drive where a police unit tried to perform a vehicle stop.

The Mercedes went off the road and struck a sign causing damage to its passenger side and finally pulled into the Sound View municipal parking lot where a marked police car pulled in behind it and ordered it to stop.

Police say the driver, Majd Fahidabdulsamee Jnaidi, 31, of Stamford, showed signs of impairment and had the strong, distinct odor associated with the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Mr. Jnaidi denied having consumed any intoxicating substance before driving, but was unable to perform standardized field sobriety tests to standard.

Jnaidi was charged with Failure to Drive in Proper Lane, DUI and Driving Wrong-Way on a One Way Street.

He was able to post his $250 bond and has a date in Stamford Superior Court on Dec 4, 2023.

According to the CT Judicial Branch website, Mr.Jnaidi has other charges pending in court stemming from arrests by Wilton Police.

According to Patch in Wilton, police that investigating an illegal cannabis operation last August and were joined by agents from CT’s Dept of Consumer Protection for an inspection of illicit items at the Mohegan Smoke Shop. The shop’s owner, Mr. Jnaidi, was arrested after investigation determined that the business had cannabis products on display for sale without having the proper license.

The CT Judicial Branch website says Jnaidi was charged in Wilton with Illegal Sale of Cannabis Products and Possession of Controlled Substance 1st offense.

Prior to that, according to the CT Judicial Branch website, Mr. Jnaidi was arrested by Wilton Police in April 2023 for an incident in February and charged with Illegal Sale of Cannabis and Possession of Cannabis Plant less than 5 oz, a violation.
