The Housing Authority of the Town of Greenwich (HATG) announces its 2020 scholarship recipients. The $1,000 scholarships, funded by HATG, were awarded to eight first-year college students determined by the Greenwich Scholarship Association, and eight students currently enrolled in college. All sixteen recipients are residents of one of the Greenwich Housing Developments or a participant in the Section 8 Program. Through the Greenwich Scholarship Association, the eight students who graduated from Greenwich High School in June are Erica Adjei, June Akpata, Carolina Alicea, Samantha Alvarado, Joana Cabrera, Alberto Figueroa, Mariana Garcia, and Alyson Payan. For the eight students currently enrolled in college, additional scholarship criteria included a GPA of 2.5 or higher and submission of a 500-word essay on the topic of how society has needed to make changes due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and specifically the adjustments they have made to a “new normal.” Continue Reading →
