Around 10:30am, Metro-North announced that New Haven Line service was operating on or close to schedule. Earlier, service was delayed after a person was struck by a train near Greenwich.
Original post, 8:00am: Around 6:00am Metro North issued a service alert saying service was suspended between Greenwich and Rye after a person was struck by a train near Greenwich.
Then, around 7:00am Metro North updated the announcement to say customers were experiencing 15-20 minute delays to reflect that trains were operating at reduced speeds. Eastbound trains were temporarily bypassing, Rye, Port Chester and Greenwich. For eastbound service from these stations customers were advised to take a westbound train to Harrison and transfer for all points east.
According to multiple reports, the crash took place at around 5:20 am when an unauthorized person was struck by a westbound train with 50 passengers aboard, though non were injured and they were all able to board another train about an hour later.
