Greenwich’s Jack Montesi Qualifies for U.S. Olympic Team Trials

Jack Montesi, member of the Chelsea Piers athletic club Swim Team, qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials-Swimming after his performance in the 200-meter Butterfly at the U.S. Junior National Championships in San Antonio, TX.

The 17-year-old Greenwich native has been a member of Chelsea Piers Athletic Club swim team for three seasons, dating back to the opening of Chelsea Piers CT.

Montesi and the team are coached by Jamie Barone. An accomplished swimmer, Barone also competed in two Olympic Trials and has been both nationally and globally ranked in the 100 meter breast stroke.

“Jack is a very hard worker who earned this trip to Omaha,” said Barone, Head Swim Coach, Chelsea Piers Connecticut.  “We are all proud to see a swimmer reach this level just three years after our program’s start.  It has been a pleasure for the staff to watch him improve over the last three seasons.”

Approximately 1,500 of the top swimmers in the country qualify for the Olympic Trials, held June 2016 in Omaha, NE. The Olympic Games will be held in August 2016.
