Next for the Wrecking Ball: 1910 Two-Family on Milbank

A two family house at 140 Milbank Ave has been noticed for demolition with the Town of Greenwich building department.

The two family house dates back to 1910 and is in the R6 zone.

The property is .1320 acres.

An affidavit of notification of demolition filed in the building department – required for buildings or structures built before 1940 and more than 500 sq ft – lists both a residential home and garage, owned by 140 Milbank LLC, 29 MacArthur Drive.

According to the Assessor’s office 140 Milbank Ave sold from 210 E 47th Street Unit 1D LLC to Allison Gudis-Jackson on Nov 21, 2025 for $2,046,000.

Any objection to the demolition filed in writing with the DPW Division of Buildings within 45 days will double the demolition waiting period for established by Town ordinance to 90 days.

The 45 day waiting period required commenced on  April 29. The mandatory 45 days waiting period ends on June 19.

Once demolished, 140 Milbank will be third in a row of three demolitions of original turn of century houses to be replaced with new homes recent years.

Next door at 138 Milbank, a demolition a home that included a non-conforming dental office, received variances in 2015 from ZBA for variances to be replaced with a “three story French Normandy style house with a swimming pool and underground garage parking” on .15 acre lot despite neighborhood concerns. The front of the house looms over Milbank with its third floor is considered a half story because it is a mansard style.

Original house at 138 Milbank Ave. The owner, Joel Leon, received approval from the Zoning Board of Appeals to demolish the house and replace it with a French Normandy style three story house with a mansard roof despite objections from neighbors.
