Hearing Scheduled on Fate of Mature Town Tree on Mason Street

The Greenwich Department of Parks & Recreation announced a public hearing has been scheduled by the tree warden on the fate of a tree at 62 Mason Street.

The tree is a London Plane, which is similar to a sycamore. The tree warden estimated it was planted about 20 years ago.

This is a town tree that the owners seek to remove in order to relocate a driveway on the property as part of a development of 7 units including two moderate income units. The application went before the Architectural Review Committee last week but has not gone before the Planning & Zoning Commission.

The hearing was triggered by a letter objecting to the removal of the tree.

The hearing will take place in the second floor Parks & Rec conference room at Greenwich TownHall on Thursday, Aug 29, 2019 at 12:00 noon.

Any person, firm or corporation objecting to the removal of the tree is requested to be present.
