Gamco Founder Gabelli Sells Belle Haven Property for $10.25 Million

Mario J Gabelli sold his 135 Field Point Circle home in Belle Haven on Oct. 9 to Donald J Casturo for $10,250,000. According to the Assessor’s office the 5,554 sq ft 5-bedroom home was built in 1958 and sits on a sloping oversized 2.48 acre property with some views of the harbor and Long Island Sound.

Forbes describes Gabelli as a lifelong contrarian, who, as a schoolboy refused to hide with classmates during air-raid drills and first traded stocks at the tender age of 13. After getting a Columbia MBA he traded “unloved small-cap stocks” and later, according to Forbes, founded the money management firm Gamco Investors in 1977 from which received more than $800 million in compensation from Gamco since its 1999 IPO. Forbes indicates Gabelli’s real time net worth on Oct. 14, 2014 as $1.78 Billion.
