Services for Greenwich’s Director of Emergency Services, Daniel Stephen Warzoha, who died on Saturday at 68, are being organized through Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home.
Warzoha, who headed emergency operations in Greenwich for the past 14 years and previously served as the town’s fire chief. He had a unique institutional memory of the town’s emergency operations and contacts with state officials. Until the town finds a replacement Police Chief Heavey will fill the role.
Warzoha was a Life Member, and Past District Chief of the Glenville Volunteer Fire Company who have placed a memorial plaque on the front outside wall of the firehouse and the American Flag has been placed at half-staff in his memory.
“Dan’s selfless contributions and services to our Town will be graciously remembered for many years to come. His loss to our community, and all that he provided, is significant,” they said on Facebook.
State Rep Steve Meskers shared his sentiments on Tuesday, saying, “In my time as State Rep I had the pleasure of working with Dan Warzoha on multiple issues regarding the town for storm recovery acts and this pandemic. I found him to be a wealth of knowledge and a calm and thorough professional. A person who wore a ready smile and an institutional presence and memory that gave me comfort.”
There will be visitation on Aug 27 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Avenue.
Funeral mass will be August 28 at 10:00am at St. Roch’s Church at 10 St. Roch Ave in Greenwich.
