Wessels Place Permanent Residential Parking Approved

At Thursday’s regularly scheduled Board of Selectmen meeting, Rita Azrelyant, the Town’s Director of Parking Services, requested the selectmen make residential parking permanent on Wessels Place between Tingue Street and New Lebanon Ave.

Azrelyant reported that neighbors were content with the program following a 6-month trial period that was set in motion prior to her being appointed to her position. She reported that she had sent multiple notices to the neighbors for feedback and only received one complaint, which she described as coming from a woman with several teenagers who all drive and needed multiple parking permits and described it as a nuisance, she said.

Azrelyant said she had reviewed police records and the restrictions and reported that several tickets were issued and here had been no incidents.

First Selectman Tesei noted that the primary goal of the restrictions had safety and visibility for drivers, given the topography of the streets impacted.
