On Saturday about 300 people turned out to participate in a protest billed as a “Tesla Takedown.”
Organized by Indivisible Stamford, the event focused on dissatisfaction with President Trump, Elon Musk and the Dept of Governmental Efficiency – “DOGE” for short – the initiative tasked with reducing federal spending.
The event took place a day after President Trump and Vice President JD Vance met with Ukrainian President Zelensky in the Oval Office, and many signs reflected support for Ukraine and Zelensky.
The crowds gathered near the Tesla facility in Stamford, a portion of which is in the town of Greenwich.
Over 300 people participated, toting signs that directed their ire at Musk, Tesla and President Trump.
Protest signs shared phrases such as, “Dump Trump,” “No Nazis – No Kings,” and “Elon is stealing your data.”

Tesla owners arriving and departing the facility were greeted with boo’s.
The crowd chanted: “One, two, three, four – Elon Musk must go out the door!” And, “Hey, hey. Ho, ho, Elon Musk has got to go!”
Around noon, as the protesters set off on foot and the chants grew louder, two familiar faces from Greenwich, Mita Spilo and Jackie Homan, appeared with red flags that said MAGA Country. In addition two helmeted people whose faces were obscured by visors rode electric unicycles around the protesters while using their cell phones to film the crowd.
The protesters marched around the Tesla facility and stopped to pose by Tesla sedans and cybertrucks before regrouping and walking around the large city block to finish the event by lining up along the entrance to the shopping center that features ShopRite, where shoppers arriving and departing tooted their horns in support or occasionally giving them “the finger.”
Michelle Abt, who played a role in organizing the event, said, “Elon Musk is undertaking a hostile takeover of our government and stealing our money right out of the treasury. And instead of living up to their oath of office, the Republicans, who control both houses of Congress, have relinquished their constitutional power to Musk and DOGE.”
“People are furious,” she added. “They are no longer willing to sit by while our democracy is systematically disassembled. We expected about 75 people today and over 300 showed up, signs in hand and ready to march. And they want to come out again. This is just the beginning of a wave of protest that will continue till these illegal actions stop.”
