Greenwich Household Hazardous Waste Day Scheduled for May 13 in Island Beach Lot

The Dept of Public Works announced that Household Hazardous Waste Day will take place on Saturday Mary 13 from 8:00am to 1:00pm in the Island Beach Parking Lot on Arch Street.

The event is for residents of Greenwich and participating towns. No commercial loads accepted.

Metal Polish in Solvent
Lighter Fluid
Mothballs
Mercury Thermometers/Thermostats

Garage
Automatic transmission fluid
Car wax in solvent
Diesel fuel
Fuel oil
Gasoline

Other oils

Garden
Fungicide
Herbicide or weed killer
Insecticide
Rat Poison
Swimming Pool Acid

Workshop
Cutting Oil
Gllue – Solvent Based
Paint – All paint, Latex and Oil based
Paint Cleaner in Solvent

Asbestos
Highly REacgive Materials
Bulk containers of Herbicides, Pesticides
Gas Cylinders

PCBs and Derivatives
Infectious Waste
Unknowns

Recycle These
Fluorescent Bulbs and CFLs
Motor Vehicle batteries and motor oil
Residential alkaline & rechargeable batteries

Safety Precautions
• Wear Rubber Gloves
• Read Warning Labels
• Identify Unlabeled Containers
• Use containers no larger than 5 gallons each
• Pack like materials carefully in boxes line with newspaper or kitty litter
• Place containers on a flat surface in vehicle to transport
