Greenwich GOP Announces Selectmen Search Committee

Richard DiPreta, Chairman of the Greenwich Republican Town Committee, announced the formation of a Republican candidate search committee for the offices of First Selectman and Selectman on Friday.

First Selectman Peter Tesei and Selectman John Toner have both stated they will not be candidates for re-election after 12 years and 5 years respectively.

“Greenwich has been fortunate to have strong Republican leadership from Peter and John which kept our taxes low and spending reasonable while delivering high quality services to Greenwich residents,” DiPreta said. “It is this Republican leadership, over decades, which has served Greenwich well and made it the envy of towns and cities across America. It only makes sense that such success warrants the continuation of Republican leadership. This committee will identify Greenwich’s best Republican leaders.”

Former RTC Chairman Stephen Walko will be leading the committee. Also on the committee are former RTC Vice Chairman Marc Ducret, RTC Executive Committee member Paul Olmsted, Icy Frantz of Riverside, and Nisha Arora. Arora was very active in Harry Arora’s 2018 campaign for US Congress.

“Our goal is to reach out to people across our community to make sure that Republicans can consider for nomination high quality candidates who will continue to keep Greenwich strong and fiscally responsible,” said Walko, adding, “Greenwich is blessed with many wonderful and skilled people and we encourage anyone with interest to contact us for further discussion.”

The committee will commence meetings immediately and will keep the RTC Executive Committee, which serves as the nominating committee, apprised of their progress. The Republican Town Committee will meet in July to nominate individuals for these offices and other local positions.
