Good news! The Department of Parks and Recreation announces that the second Island Beach ferry will be back in service for the upcoming weekend. The ferry boats are decades old, and repairs involve sourcing rare parts.
Joe Siciliano, Director of Parks and Recreation and Jeff Freidag, Superintendent of Marine and Facility Operations conducted recently traveled to Bridgeport to get a good idea of the progress on repair work being done on the Island Beach vessel. Due to the magnitude of the repair the boat was not operational for the Fourth of July weekend, which meant that service was hourly, versus every half hour.
See you on Island Beach!
