AAA Northeast is marking a major milestone of more than 5,000 DMV transactions at the AAA branches in Fairfield County following the start of a new partnership with the Connecticut Dept of Motor Vehicles.
Through the partnership, the following DMV services are available to Connecticut residents at the AAA branches in Fairfield (1201 Kings Highway), Norwalk (495 Westport Avenue) and Danbury (93 Lake Avenue).
You do not need a AAA membership to complete the below transactions:
- REAL ID driver’s license and non-driver ID renewals for U.S. citizens
- Driver’s license renewals, duplicates, and name changes
- Non-driver ID renewals, duplicates, and name changes
- Learner’s permit duplicates and name changes
- Driving history requests
Beginning May 7, 2025, travelers will need a REAL ID or other acceptable form of identification to board domestic flights and enter certain federal facilities.
Travelers planning to fly domestically later this year do not need a REAL ID or REAL ID compliant credential until the date of their flight.
Those looking to upgrade their Connecticut driver’s license or non-driver ID to a REAL ID can do so during an in-person visit at the Connecticut DMV or the above AAA locations. Appointments are required and can be made online.
A complete list of documents needed for your REAL ID appointment can be found on the Connecticut DMV website.
“We’re thrilled that our partnership with the state of Connecticut has gotten off to such a successful start and allows us to provide valuable services to the community,” said John Galvin, President and CEO of AAA Northeast. “As the REAL ID deadline approaches, this partnership allows us to provide the public with numerous options when scheduling an appointment.”
“Congratulations to AAA Northeast on reaching this milestone,” said DMV Commissioner Tony Guerrera. “Offering convenient access to DMV services is always top of mind. I am thankful for this partnership.”
AAA Northeast is a not-for-profit auto club with offices in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire and New York, providing more than 6.5 million local AAA members with travel, insurance, financial and auto-related services.
