Signs in the windows of St. Moritz Pastry Shop at the bottom of Greenwich Avenue say there are plans to close permanently after Saturday, April 26.
At St. Moritz the chefs are renowned for their custom cake designs. Everything is baked on premises using only fresh and natural ingredients including butter, real cream and imported European chocolate.

Their sign explains, “In operation since 1939, and moving to the Avenue in the 1960s, we have fond memories of celebrating your birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions. Thank you for the years of patronage. We will continue to make our regular selection of baked goods until our ingredients run out – our recommendation is to call ahead of time if you need to order something specific.” (Tel 203-869-2818.)
The pastry shop has been a favorite destination among locals for everything from a wedding cake to Valentine’s Day cookies.
And who could forget their gingerbread houses? They were for sale during the holidays undecorated or decorated – small medium, and large.

A commercial listing on Crexi describes the 7,827 square foot mixed-use building at 383 Greenwich Ave featuring two retail spaces and six apartments as a “trophy location,” given its proximity to Rte 1 and I-95 and Greenwich Train Station, where the Greenwich Crossing project includes a building to house a restaurant in the site of the former Bow Tie Cinema that closed in 2020. The movie theater building was demolished last summer.
Crexi says the building at 383 Greenwich Ave is under contract, and that St. Moritz occupies both the first-floor retail and second floor commercial suites, leased on a month-to-month basis.
